GSM Explained: What Fabric Weight Really Means for Your Tees and Hoodies

The number most brands hide

GSM (grams per square meter) tells you how heavy a fabric is — and it's the single best signal of quality you can check before buying.

The quick scale

  • Under 150 GSM: lightweight, often see-through. Fast-fashion territory.
  • 150-200 GSM: standard everyday tees. Solid, breathable, versatile.
  • 200+ GSM: premium heavyweight tees with structure and drape.
  • 300+ GSM: heavyweight hoodies and fleece. Substantial, warm, built to last.

Why it matters

Higher GSM means the garment holds its shape, resists pilling, and survives more washes. It's why a heavyweight tee feels premium the second you pick it up — and why it still looks good a year later.

What to look for

Brands proud of their fabric publish the GSM. We do: our oversized tee runs ~300 GSM and our hoodie hits 330 GSM. If a brand won't tell you, that's usually a sign.
