Quality leaves clues
You don't need a fashion degree to spot a well-made garment. Run this 60-second check before you buy.
1. The weight test
Pick it up. Quality streetwear feels substantial — 200+ GSM for tees, 300+ for hoodies. If it feels like air, it'll wear like air.
2. Check the seams
Look inside. Tight, even stitching with no loose threads. Double-needle stitching at the hems and shoulders is a good sign; twisted side seams are not.
3. The collar
Stretch the neckline gently — it should snap back. Ribbed, reinforced collars survive; thin ones bacon out in five washes.
4. The fabric face
Smooth, dense surface = combed or ring-spun cotton. Fuzzy, uneven surface = cheaper open-end cotton that pills.
5. The print
Crisp edges, even coverage, no cracking when you stretch it slightly.
6. The details
Tear-away tags, pre-shrunk fabric, side-seamed construction — brands that sweat these details usually got the big things right too.
